Does your characters name come from something specific? A word from another language changed around, or a combination of two words? Post it here! I found out that a word similiar to Keaton means 'small' in Hebrew. Keaton is rather shy, and so therefore 'small'. This was totally unintentional. I just know she looks like Keaton from Legend of Zelda. xP

Nifty topic. ^^ *google image searches Keaton* OOohh...yes, she does look like him/her, doesn't she?
I often wonder how people come up with names...
Alakyl came from the barrowdowns.com elvish name generator...it was part of a bigger name it spat out. I have since found that it is a place in Finland and an alternate spelling of some old dialect...? Hee...someday I'll have to visit 'Alakyla.' xD
I think I modified Alzanka from some name that meant 'old.' Not sure, though. It's hard to remember.
Tirossta came as a night's ponderings.
I generally either play around with different sounds and create an original name, or search babyname sites. ^^ It just depends on how inspired I feel...

Same. Ah, I forgot poor Lyra. In the golden compass series, there is a girl called 'Lyra Silvertongue'. Gave me the idea for Lyra's power, and the name too. Silver stripe, silver tongue. xP
Morphain...the name of a fox character I once made up, because it sounds evil. -cackles- that character was very evil. xD

Yeah, "Morphain" always threw me off--I expected him to be really mean, but didn't really know why!
"Athoran" comes from pseudo-Gaelic for "Skysong." "Marbos" comes from p.G. for "kill/slay," "Neimha" means "Poison."

Yep. Originally, he was this stoic wolf who was kinda cruel, but that was no fun. Crazy little idiot nowadays. xD
I remember you saying about Marbos and Neimha. Thats cool! ^^ Skysog? Interesting. ^^

More fun with Gaelic! Yay, Gaelic! ;D Braxa: Actually...ah...this one isn't Gaelic. It just...sounds cool. Saighid: "Incite," or "provoke" Ruabeh: Blend of "scarlet" and "maiden" Sciana: From "scian," meaning "knife" Dehatak: From "deatach," meaning "smoke" Also, since some of these are kind of weird, here's how I pronounce them (NOTE: I don't speak Gaelic! This is probably not the Gaelic pronunciation! Also, this is just what sounds best to me. If you pronounce it differently, have a blast.) Marbos: MAR-bos Neimha: NAME-ha Braxa: BRAK-sa Saighid: psy-GEED Ruabeh: roo-AH-bay Sciana: skee-AHN-ah Dehatak: DAY-ha-tak Also, just for giggles, this is the lexicon I use
