It has been six months. Winter is setting in, and it's going to be a harsh one. Temperatures are already dropping, and though there is not yet an incredible shortage, prey is becoming harder and harder to find in the Valley as species take to their dens for the long season. The ground is covered in a thick blanket of white.
Tal and Tir, as well as the other pups, are now much larger than before, entering young-adulthood with vigor and spunk, making new and exciting contributions to the pack...
But beyond the horizon, danger lingers, dark and cold. The Dark Alliance packs are plotting amongst themselves, unbeknowenst to our beloved Dreamcatcher Wolves.
What will happen; what will occur; is solely up to them and how they handle their enemies...

Talraz stood on the bluff above the Valley, the snowfall about him and the harsh wind ruffling his thick fur as he gazed downward. Watching was not his job, but he'd literally taken it up as a pastime.
He'd yet to see a wolf cross the border of the valley this season, and was glad. That meant less intrusions, which meant more safety. He'd also seen very little prey mucking around about. He knew there was plenty, if it was searched for...most animals had taken to their dens for the winter, and the Valley was reputed to be the only place for miles that had a sufficient amount of food to last a pack through the winter...which had become a concern to his mother and father as of late, he knew.
If they were the only place for miles...what wolves would come here? Yes. It had been a big concern. And although numerous amounts of them kept watch around the border, Talraz had taken it up as a daily part of life, spending the majority of his time on the bluff alone.
He'd gotten much larger than he had been six months ago...in less than a season, he would reach his one year mark. His puplike personality, or the majority of it, anyway, had fallen away to his developed one...serious but friendly, and responsible. It had much surprised his father he had turned out to be something more than a mischevious adolescent. He now refused to be called "Tal", save by his sister. Talraz was a more adult name, he had said. He allowed Tirossta to call him by his puphood name only because his twin had done so all of her young life. Attempting to shed the habit would've been ridiculous.
He sighed loudly, his breath turning into fog and floating up and away into a swirl of misty snow. He flicked his ears and hopped about a moment to warm his paws before settling back into his seated position, eyes studying the valley below with absolute scrutiny. He had a bad feeling. A very bad one. He would not be leaving this spot today. Not even for a tender piece of the juicy meat that the pack should be dragging in any moment...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He jumped back from the flailing beast as it swung its rack about, dodging the flurry of hoofbeats. His breath came in short, concentrated gasps, as he snarled and lashed out with fangs of ivory, tearing open a gash as long as his own leg in the moose's flank. Crimson gushed from the opening, and Kefrah made good of the oppotunity.
As it lowed in pain, and gave way to its back legs, he leapt upon its throat with a loud bark of victory, ushering the other wolves in to hold it so that the suffocation could take place fairly quickly.
In a matter of moments, the animal ceased motion, and lay lifeless on the bloodstained snow. Kefrah stepped back and collapsed a few feet away, exhausted by the chase and capture.
The animal had not only been difficult to track, but it had been young, and extremely hard to attack successfully. He breathed heavily, happy it was over, but much too spent to smile. His tongue lolled out the side of his mouth as he shakily got to his paws, and made his way over to the corpse, watching out of the corner of his eye for his mate.
"No one's hurt?"
He looked around to be sure, because the animal had been a feisty one. Any flash of hoof or any wave of the rack could've easily broken anyone's rib...or leg...or paw. This winter was not going to be easy. Sure, it would not starve them...there was plenty of prey to go around. But finding that prey was the hard part, and bringing it down was the largest challenge of all.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
October lay in the meadow. She'd been with Athoran earlier that day, and they'd strolled about and talked as they normally did. She'd come back to the meadow afterwards for a short nap, and the pack had been gone...hunting or scouting, no doubt. She was sorry she'd missed it. The thrill of the hunt always awakened something in her.
Three months ago, Craven had disappeared from the midst of them. She assumed he had died...it was no secret he'd been sickly when he left, his once thick, full fur falling out in tufts, his bones covered by nigh much than a halfinch of meat. It did not bother her that he was gone. It put her at ease. No longer did she have to watch her back against the rapist of her younger life.
Still, what he had told her of her daughter ravaged her mind daily. It was something she had only shared with Athoran, and his opinion on it hardly wavered her beliefs one way or the other. If she was indeed alive and corrupted as Craven had said...where was she, and what could October do? She'd never know her daughter, so long ago it had been. The tiny naked pup of years ago would now be a fully grown femme, capable, (if Craven was correct) of killing a wolf without a second thought.
She chewed at her left paw in angst, and then whimpered. Something about the story--and the air about this valley lately--felt--wrong.

" I'm fine. " Keaton muttered, nodding. She glanced about, looking for Morphains familiar face. A sigh. He'd stayed back. His duty had previously been to watch the pups...and look for newcomers. Now it was to ensure no one invaded. Keaton missed hunting with him...he was like her brother, after all.
----------------
Morphain had situated himself in the meadow, snoring softly. He'd seen Tal go- or, should he say Talraz- to the bluff. Surely to watch for enemies. Six months had done a lot to him...he felt...tired. And really, quite lonely. He hadn't seen Keaton for a while...and today he'd skipped out on his duties. His eyes slowly opened. A grunt, as he rose. Ah...better go to his post. Besides, the others would be missing him. A wry smile. His post was rather isolated. The trees towards the edge of their 'land'.
Morphain hid amongst them, eyes half closed, appearing unalert. But who could blame him? Nothing had happened for days...still, the rumors circulated. He chose mostly to ignore them...but still. It didn't hurt to be on guard.
---------------------------
Lyri had politely refused to go on the hunt. Her age was catching up to her. She /was/ older than most of the pack...though the Demon Pack and her powers had kept her in good shape, their abandonment of her had made her realize how old she was. The Demon Power within her had given her energy, hiding the tiredness of her limbs, forcing them on to greater heights. A...perk of the the Demon Pack. None of them even realized it.
Lyra sighed. She sat by the river, freezing over parts of it, and watching them drift away. Perhaps she could place her past upon them, and watch it too drift away? But no...surely the Demon Pack would come. Starvation would drive an insane pack even madder. A slight shiver. There was much she had not told Alzanka...prehaps some conversation might be nice. Even with such a...heavy matter.
She forced her limbs to rise. So heavy...they had always seemed lighter before. Able to do anything...she sighed. The feeling had been nice. She still recalled the pure enjoyment of it...even though it was purely wrong. Evil. Demon. Thats what /she/ had been. But the memories of enjoyment coursed through her still. Killing...murdering...that was why she did not hunt with the others. If her old mind set started bubbling up, she might regain the power. At the sight of a kill, being the killer...shye would want more.
Another shiver. She was trembling at her thoughts. She had done this many times in the six months...always in secret. However, she now forced herself to stop. She couldn't betray the pack like that! She must find Alzanka, and speak with him...if only to ease her soul. So selfish she was.

ooc: Though I'm dying to post, I find myself a little confused...Etourdi and nahira were about to be introduced to the Ayzras - is that still going to happen or are we skipping it and assuming they already have done in some strange twisting of space and time? =) Either way is fine with me, I just need to know before I go ahead and post.

Pale blue eyes silently watched the young wolf on the bluff. Athoran smiled softly. The growing wolf reminded him so much of himself.
He watched, noiselessly, for awhile, relishing the feel of soft snow on his fur. He loved this kind of weather, more than any other. It was perfect, quiet. It was safe. Peace.
He could tell from Talraz's demeanor that he would not be joining the other wolves to eat--and the more Athoran thought about it, he didn't think he would either. In this place, at least, he could count on other hunt, another kill. He would last--and there were things more important than food.
At length, he raised his maw and shifted the winds, carrying his scent toward the young one, and stood, stepping quietly from his watching place amidst the trees.
"Hoof-bone for your thoughts," he said quietly.

His spirits high, Etourdi bounded through the fallen snow, large paws batting playfully at his sister's ears at the same time as he dodged her teeth, snapped at his throat in bad tempered intolerance. "Come on, Nahira, you love Winter too!" He laughed as he flicked a pawful of soft white snow into her face then skittered away quickly to avoid retribution. He'd never get away with this normally, but despite her angry expression he knew Nahira was in better spirits this time of year. Reaching the gathered packmembers he gave a broad smile and ran forward, tail waving, to greet them all.
The female scowled at her brother, all the more annoyed that he was actually right. She liked the colder months, despite the hardships they brought. She liked to see the world in silence as it lay beneath a blanket of ice and snow, liked to see the footprints of everthing that had passed . But most of all she liked the fact that it reminded her of home. This was where she belonged, when it all came down to it. Miles of travelling didn't change her Arctic birth. Years of changing scenery never meant she no longer felt at home in the tundra. But there were other things to think of now - mainly the present. Barely established in the pack, she cast an emerald eye around at the assorted wolves already gathered here. She recognised them as packmembers, but beyond that didn't really know them very well. And though she didn't intend to make the effort, it wouldn't hurt to listen in to Etourdi's conversations and pick up what she could.

((Here's Tir's post.. .Ally and Alz to come later))
Tirossta clambered up the hillside, her claws scraping against the icy earth. Six months had given her a growth spurt, and her long limbs and large paws were still not completely under her control. Large ears flicked up to where Talraz sat, trying to establish why her brother had come up here.
Talraz may have become more serious in the passing months, but Tir was much the same as always. Perhaps she was only a bit less vocative, as the need to ask questions such as 'why' and 'how' diminished. The inquisitiveness remained, but Tirossta had found ways other than bugging her parents to quench her thirst for knowledge.
The sharp wind rose up briefly as Tirossta nearly lost her footing on some snow-covered leaves. Most of the pups took to their elemental powers much quicker than the adults did, and Tir was no exception. Though she knew, and Alzanka the elder reminded her, that she had much to learn, she was very skilled with her power.
The young wolf was a little out of breath as she approached Talraz, a bit self-reproaching for having taken on the bluff’s more difficult assent. She nodded at Athoran as she bounded forward to her brother to playfully nudge his neck with her nose in greeting before assuming a more serious air.

Talraz picked up Athoran's scent fairly fast, and nodded him a terse hello, attempting a smile. He felt frozen, however, so it appeared more as a crooked grin than anything else...before he could invite the male up the bluff, he saw Tirossta scampering up the hillside and nearly laughed. He nuzzled her as a brother would, and nipped at her ear once before clearing his throat to speak.
"Mum and Dad bring one down?"
He shook a few clumps of snow from his tail, and again looked to Athoran, motioning him up the bluff with a toss of his head. His stomach was already rumbling, but he figured when his turn was up tonight, he'd go catch himself a rabbit. Or--wait. His turn? This wasn't even his job! Perhaps he'd take a break later and make a quick game of a hunt.
"It's getting colder, I do believe. Anyone seen any trouble along the border, Tir?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>>OOC<< Others will come later. I'm thinking about having October taken captive...lmao. I don't know if I can roleplay so many wolves at once--so if October's "taken captive" during the war plot...I can RP Keff, Ruabeh, Aku or Alki, and Tal without a problem. Then I can take October back up after I rid myself of my two Dark Alliance wolves. Or...I could just take Ruabeh and not one of the others. That way I could RP my three originals and one DA. *shrug* It's whatever you guys think I guess.

Alakyl panted as she released her hold on the carcass' flank. One small cut on her shoulder showed that both luck and skill were still on the ayzra's side. She padded quietly over to Kefrah and eyed him quickly to make sure her mate was not hurt. Satisfied all was well, she nodded to him. "Let the hunters eat their fill. That will make the load lighter for bringing it to the rest of the pack," she suggested.
-----------------------------------------------
Alzanka was old. Well, that was an understatement, but true nonetheless. And lately he had been feeling it. With this age had come complaints of the cold weather being too cold, and his limbs not being as quick as they once were, so Alzanka felt he had every right to be crochety. What annoyed him most? Before his long 'nap,' he had been in the prime of his life. Perhaps it was better to waste it away without realizing, but it still bothered him. Not to mention that the long fast that had come with it had probably aged him all the more.
With these displeased thoughts, Alzanka stretched and stood, finally deciding that excersize would not do him harm. He walked towards the river, pausing to nod with a crooked smile at Etourdi. Such an energetic young wolf. And Nahira....well, she was a piece of work. Perhaps not the best addition to the pack, but...that was the Ayzra's decision, after all. Lowering his head once more, Alzanka trudged through the snow to the water's edge and lowered his muzzle to drink.
Once he had had his fill, he lifted his eyes to Lyra, the orange eye glittering. "Greetings, friend," he said amiably.

" Ah, greetings. " Lyra replied, sitting back down. " How is the winter for you? " She asked, nodding her head at the snowy landscape. Snow...she had always loved the winter season. Now, she felt more connected to it...possibly by her power.
A mental nudge prompted her. The Demon power was rippling beneath the surface. Always on her mind...and their likely situation of starvation. But why ruin the good modd so quickly? Although it was important. Preparation was a worthy tool.

A slight wind ruffled the silvery pelt of a lone wolf that stood atop a small knoll. Her presence had gone unnoticed for some time, perhaps 15 minutes or so. If one was looking closely enough they would still see only the faint outline of the lass; if they just gave a passing glance in that direction, they would see nothing. The wolf's ears twitched, leaning in towards the area where the majority of wolves congregated. Should she intrude upon their evening? No, she would hold off a bit and further learn what kind of wolves they were; ones to meet or ones to avoid.
Another breeze swept around the lass' stream-lined stature, unmoving as it was. A few flakes of snow mixed in with the air and swirled around the lass' vision, taunting her with their play. Ichïgo had always loved the winter season. The cold winds with flakes of white snow, the overcast atmos without the glaring of the sun. The lass despised the heat and brightness that summer brought, it was despicable. No, of course she didn't mind others having their fun in the summer heat. But if they decided to join her in with their games, well, it wouldn't be a good idea.
---
Another 10 minutes had gone by and the lass had still gone unnoticed. A sigh escaped the wolf's parted jowls, time to meet these animals. Lower pads bore the lass forth, down the incline that led into the valley. Snow had begun to increase in volume as it fell from the skies and slowly, but steadily, built up along the path. The lass had no problems with the white flakes and even took it upon herself to pounce the small drifts. Mahogany gaze took a quick look around the clearing of the woods, no others were there, that she could see atleast. It was settled then, a few moments of play wouldn't hurt.
The lass quickened her pace, jouncing around the clearing and leaping atop the snow drifts that kept accumulating in size. A few short barks escaped her as the lass gave in to her more childish side. Pretend aggressiveness came out as she snapped out at the falling flakes, ivory sets of killers coming together with a metallic 'clang'. Sure, the lass was already 3 years of age, but what did that matter? Everyone had their childish side somewhere inside. It was just what brought it out that made everyone different.
After another few moments of this play, the lass ceased movement and rocked back upon her haunches to catch her breath. Hind chain curled around her left side as mahogany gaze scrutinized the 'damage' she had caused. A short chuckle escaped her then she looked back to the direction of the other wolves. She might as well wait for someone to meet her, call them first. The lass lifted her head to the parted canopy above and released a short melody, telling whoever was out there that she was here. All that was left to do now was wait.

Ears twitched at the short howl. Ah...Ichigo. Morphain smiled slightly. Maroon eyes turned to to face where the noise came from. Hm. Not to far. He rose up, fully awake now. Talking to another wolf would give him something to do, rather than this...
He began a slow trot, black fur collecting flakes of white snow as he left the trees protective canopy. He really stood out...that was another reason why he wasn't hunting. Reminded of the hunt, his stomach gave a light growl. Well, it'd have to wait. There wasn't much he could do about it anyway.
Shortly, his maroon eyes found Ichigo. " Hello, Ichigo. " He greeted with a crooked grin. " How goes it?" He hadn't seen Ichigo much either during the short time she'd been here.

Athoran scaled the bluff in three long leaps, swept upward on the air, planting his paws with precision and care. At the top, he kept his distance. Talraz had surely expected to be alone here before he and Tirossta encroached upon his solitude.
"It's getting colder, I do believe. Anyone seen any trouble along the border, Tir?"
Athoran smiled. Indeed, so much wisdom in so young a pup. Then he caught himself. Tal--Talraz--was a pup no more. His sister, perhaps, could be seen as a large pup, but he had quickly become a small adult. So serious, so prone to smiling rather than laughter.
The older wolf had seen him many times before, here on this bluff, looking to the wilds. He hadn't even been promoted from "pup" yet ((right? kind of a guess...)), and yet here he waited, a sentinel of his own accord. He would make a fine ayzra one day.
"I have seen none, Talraz. But the winds...the winds are not always so sure."

Ears twitched again. Another howl. It sounded angry, frustrated...haunted. Morphain shrugged at Ichigo. " I...better go. It would be foolish not to, in these dangerous times." He said grimly, turning and heading off towards the border. (( Short, sorry. >< ))

Alzanka gave Lyra a crooked smile, his ears flopping back. "Ah...I can't complain. Well, I could, but I suppose I don't mind the cold. I will not bother asking your opinion on winter weather, however." He gave a short laugh, then looked at her quizzically with his orange eye. Lyra's lingering Demon-pack powers worried him, and his own element could vaguely pick up on her unsettled mood, but he would not question her or use his power to find out what intrigued him so. He had already suggested she tell him all that she wished to, and he would do no more.

Alakyl and the others who had participated in the hunt ate their fill, then, after resting for a short while, dragged the carcass back to the main meadow. It would have been easier, yes, to summon the rest of the pack to the forest, but the rumors of famine had made the ayzras uneasy. They would not announce to the world how much food they had. That was as close to suicide as they could get.
Once inside the clearing that housed the main den, Alakyl and the others dropped the meat and dispersed to rest or drink from the stream. "Any who are hungry, eat," she said, glancing around to see who was present. There were so many who she did not know very well, she wondered just how difficult the autumn and winter had been on the surrounding lands.
Alakyl smirked slightly at the one who she knew as Nahira... The other female reminded her strongly of herself. Hopefully, for the sake of the pack, Nahira would not be too much like Alakyl, but that did not seem an issue yet. Still, the orangish female trotted over to Nahira and Etourdi, figuring that she had better get to know the new wolves better. Especially as familiarity would help her read Nahira's actions, and keep an eye on her...
"Go ahead and eat if you are hungry," she offered blankly, eyeing the pair warily.

Nahira glanced up at the approaching female, her expression cold. If it was friendly conversation she sought, then she should head elsewhere. She tensed as the other drew close, lips twitching back to ever so slightly show the tips of her teeth. She wasn't daft enough to openly provoke a fight, not here and now, but her hostility was clear. Listening to the female's offer, she remained silent, not trusting herself to remain civil - did she mean to indicate that Nahira couldn't hunt for and feed herself? Or that she needed an invitation to eat, when in fact she'd join the feasting wolves welcome or otherwise.
Etourdi's tail waved in silent greeting, however, stepping forward to meet Alakyl. "Thank you, Miss." He smiled gratefully, nudging Nahira sharply with a hind foot. He didn't really expect her to be cheerful, but it would be nice if she could at least tolerate the other wolves here. He stepped to the side quickly to avoid a sharp nip in response, grinning apologetically back at the other wolf. "Sorry about Nahira - she hasn't really settled in yet." Would she? Would her manner towards others become more friendly as the seasons rolled by? it was nice to hope so.

Lyra gave a light smile. "Winter has always been the best for me." After these words, a thoughtful expression appeared on her face, followed by a slight frown. " But it may not be so, this time. Something tells me so." Did that sound stupid? Quite. " There is..." It was hard to admit that she hadn't been thorough in her explanation, and had left things out. "...more to the Demon Pack. A slight...problem." She waited for Alzanka's reaction. Surprised, intrigued, she assumed. ------------
Keaton had eaten her share of food at the hunt, and watched as the others went to eat. She wanted to start conversation...Nahira looked to fierce and frightening, Etourdi always nearby...prehaps she might find one of the had-been pups. Tir or Talraz were always easy to talk to, with their kind attitude and pup-friendliness.

Morphain returned to the group, glancing back periodically at Kalen. He had noticed the wolves limp, and had made sure to go slow enough for him to keep up. The smell of meat had alerted him to the small feast that was currently going on. Perhaps Kalen might want to eat...and the azyras were sure to be there.
There was only one problem. Morphain wasn't quite sure if he was supposed to simply admit others like he had. Danger and betrayal lurked in every corner. But Morphain had a feeling this wolf was okay. With a slight limp, he couldn't really cause to much trouble...could he?
"Here we are, Kalen." Morphain said, with a nod of his head, and a crooked grin. He bounded over to Alakyl. "Alakyl, meet Kalen." He spoke enthusiastically, tail wagging, grinning to both wolves. "Kalen, meet Alakyl."

Alakyl gave Nahira a cool, unconcerned look, then grinned at Etourdi, showing her fangs. "That's quite all right. I don't mind being around the antisocial, volatile wolves. It can be refreshing." She was saved from further reply by Morphain's approach.
Alakyl eyed Kalen for a moment, as if sizing him up, then nodded. "Welcome, Kalen," she glanced at Morphain briefly, but figured that the Faxxa knew what he was doing when he patrolled the border. And there was nothing outstandingly suspicious about this wolf..

Kalen was taken aback, but relieved by Morphain's small act kindness by slowing down enough for him to keep up easily. He had been pushing himself too hard, and the combination of the cold weather, little food and little rest did not help his leg. Pehaps here, he could rest a little so it wouldn't be so sore and stiff. The scent of meat got his attention, and he felt sharp stab hunger. He made no outward sign that he had noticed it. It wasn't his place to eat the pack's food when he wasn't part of it yet. He would wait.
He kept an even pace through white snow, keeping just behind Morphain. He stopped twice, once to quicly to shake the snow from his thick brown-gold fur (Snow from a tree branch fell and hit him). The other time he paused when they had reached the other wolves. He scanned his surrondings, studying each wolf before he realized the Morphain wasn't near him. He spotted him talking to a female. He walked toward towards them in time to hear the introduction. "It's good to be here," He said in reply to Alakyl, lowing his head slightly.

"Alright then." Morphain said, with a grin. He was glad Alakyl had accepted his decision in allowing Kalen in. "Are you hungry? I would expect you are. " He added, motioning towards the small feast of deer meat. " I'm sure it would be fine if you had some food. " He had slowly begun to walk in that direction, though still looking at Kalen. Hopefully he wouldn't bump into anyone on his way, as not watching where you are going tended to do that to him.
Lucky for him, Keaton was rather used to this, as he banged into her, both falling down rather suddenly.
"Morphain..." Keaton muttered, shaking her head slightly. "at least try and watch where you're going." She couldn't help but smile at his idiocy, though. Glancing at where Morphain had been looking, she spotted Kalen. "Oh. Hello. I haven't seen you around...you're new?" She asked, cocking her head slightly, hoping she was right when she said so. "My name is Keaton."
Morphain rose to his feet, giving Keaton an injured look. "I was watching where I was going. I just tripped." A lopsided grin.

Soon as Morphain was finished speaking, Kalen's stomach gave a loud growl. Right on cue, He thought, smiling inwardly. But right as he lift his paw to take a step forward, Morphain collided with another wolf. He watched the little scene, fascinated. How different it was from his old pack. For a little thing like that, the pack would of been fighting each other. He was so intrigued that he nearly missed Keaton's question. "Uh... I'm Kalen, and... I'm new here...\" His voice trailed off.

"Well...nice to meet you." Keaton was pleased with her inference. She was usually wrong, but didn't usually say anything. But still. She had felt like she wanted to welcome this wolf. A strange feeling...
Morphain walked to the food, ignoring Keaton. He'd heard Kalen's stomach growl, and knew he'd follow shortly.
